Purpose

CultureUp.us preserves Indigenous Black memory.

This site follows long-rooted Black American memory through records, land, burial grounds, churches, schools, newspapers, music, family continuity, civic institutions, public archives, and local place history.

CultureUp is archival, careful, place-based, and source-guided.
The public record, caption, source note, credit line, and correction path belong close to the story.
Public claims require public, reviewable sources.

Scope

The work is narrower by design.

CultureUp is not a general African history site, a general Black history site, a generic diaspora archive, or a broad public-interest news platform. Its work is narrower by design.

African continental memory, African-born immigrant memory, and broadly African-descended stories belong in a separate African Memory lane unless a story has a documented Indigenous Black American memory frame.
Stories with a documented Northwest African Moor connection belong on MoorOfUS.org or may be cross-linked from CultureUp when the connection is relevant.
Broad technology, business, world, and policy stories are held outside CultureUp core unless they serve the memory frame.

Evidence

Private lineage information is not public proof.

Private family, genetic, and lineage information may guide editorial caution, but public claims require public evidence. CultureUp does not use private family or genetic material as public proof unless the evidence holder has explicitly authorized public use.

Public sources must be reviewable by readers, editors, or named institutions.
Official labels may be attributed without being adopted as CultureUp's identity frame.
Sensitive family, burial, church, and lineage material gets extra caution before publication.

Method

Memory stays connected to place, source, and correction.

Each publishable page should keep the reader close to the record: where the claim came from, what the image shows, who holds the source, what the source can and cannot prove, and how the record can be corrected.

Hero images, thumbnails, captions, credits, and source notes are part of the editorial record.
Stories moved to hold or review lanes remain preserved, not erased.
Corrections should update the public page and the source-controlled CMS record.
